what is the best camcorder for the money?

Q. I am looking to buy a camcorder. What is the best one for the value? Also, some feature I would like. I want it to look good on a 42" HD TV. I would prefer not to use recordable media, unless that media can record 3 hours. So yea, let's go, let me know your view and experience.

A. ok so you want an hd camcorder, nothing that will record for less than 3 hours, any flash drive camcorder will do that and any HDD camcorder. best value that depends on one inportant thing how much do you want to spend, less than 100 less than 500 1000 5000, the choice is yours. a little more information will help.

do you want to just play directly from the camcorder to the tv or do you want to edit the video and put it on dvd. if its just to be shown from the camera to the tv then there is not a problem, if you want to edit the video then the more you compress the video (get more onto the media) then you are going to have problems editing the video on a low performance pc, if you want to put it onto a disk then you will need to use Blue Ray, then you will need a player (unless you already have one)

the media you record onto is price releted, flash dive camcorders start a lot cheaper then HDD, Flash drive is more reliable, then HDD. Quality of the video I think is better.

Good luck

what camcorder should i get for 250 dollars?

Q. I have 250 dollars what camcorder should i get... and please don't say i should save up for a more expensive one.

A. I like the Canon ZR950. You can find them priced from $230 - $275 depending upon where you shop on the web. A word about that, be very careful about buying on the web, especially camcorders/cameras. There are many slick web sites with great camcorder prices, but you will get ripped off. I would stick to Circuit City, Buydig, Newegg, or B&H photo (B & H photo is the best). I still prefer mini dv tapes over newer hard drive or DVD camcorders. I find less problems when it comes to editing, function and overall performance when working with tapes - it's a personal thing. Even with more inexpensive camcorders it comes down to you controlling the camcorder, and not letting the camcorder control you. That is, even on less expensive camcorders you can control focus and exposure (not all but many of them). Granted, this doesn't have a focus ring, like more expensive camcorders, but it does have a menu where you can control focus and aperature/exposure settings. Yes, many of these camcorders do a fine job when set to automatic - and do well with automatic focus and automatic exposure control. I still think it's improtant to take the time to learn what the camcorder can really do. Many of these less expensive cameras look fine in outdoor lighting but stuggle a bit with low indoor lighting (if the lighting is dark), but that can be easily fixed indoors by simply turning on more lights/light or adding a table lamp or floor lamp. It's not necessary for most people to go out an buy "movie" lights. it's just a matter of being aware of your surroundings when shooting. Many people complain that their camcorder footage looks "grainy" or "dark" inside, but in some cases you need to add some light in the room. The camcorder industry advertises LOW lux or low light ratings, or that the camcorder will perform miracles inside in low lighting, but every manufacturer is different in their ratings and how they view their specific camcorder.

But, with that said, I like the Canon ZR950 for the price, and it's a good value. If you have any money left over, buy yourself a tripod.

How much can I claim for a stolen camcorder tape?
Q. On my return from a working holiday, one of my bags was searched by a company working at the airport. When I unpacked it at home, I discovered that some things were missing, notably my camcorder. I had specifically taken this to video my presentation whilst away... I'm in the process of filing a claim with the company that searched my bag & would like advice on how much to claim for the tape in the camcorder, as this is something that can't be replaced.
Any ideas?

A. Unless you had seperate insurance for the contents of the tape you are not going to get any money for that, as it has no commercial value, so you may get the value of the tape (blank). I learnt this and it was a costly mistake, now I never leave my camera or tapes (more important) they are always with me as a camera can be replaced but 6 weeks of underwater filming cannot.

Sorry

What should I give to pawn shops for money?

Q. I need at least $200 asap. I have old gaming systems like old school nintendo, super nintendo, N64 & gamecube. I have a digital camera, dvds, a cd payer that can be karaoke with microphoness, camcorder, tv, and some games like scene it and trivial pursuit with dvd's included. What can I get fo that? What else would be a good idea to bring?

A. I manage the Ebay account in a Pawn shop, As I write this I am eating lunch in the "Dungeon" lol a windowless room that we do Ebay in.
For the old systems I would offer 5.00 each and might do 10.00 for the gamecube depending on condition of them.
Digital cameras..Tough to sell because they keep increasing the MP rates (Megapixels) you buy one and a month later it is obsolete..8mp or better we do $20.00 again depending on condition.
DVDs are $1.00 each, Kareoke Machine I wouldn't touch they don't sell here, maybe different where you live.
Camcorder depending on what type of recording it does could be anywhere from "No thanks" to $40.00.
TV's...if it is an Old Style TV Bigger than 20" it would be $10.00, No board games no pawn shop will touch them unless they are antiques from the 60's or earlier.
Bring Gold or Silver those are always a sure bet...Pandora beads and bracelets are good too

EDIT:25% of value?!....We would have no customers EVER..we pay 40-60% of resale.

How much money could i get out of my Poloroid Pink Digital Camera?
Q. I was going to take it to a pawn shop b/c i really need the money. Its in excellent condition and it comes with all its usb cords and the cords that you need to plug it into the computer. It has a camcorder on it too. I bought this camera for $150. I just wanted to know how much i could get out of it from a pawn shop. Any ideas? I would really appreciate it.

A. Pawn shops are the worst places to sell something. You will get a tiny fraction of what anything is worth. It's not a selling service. It's a way to have them hold something of value while you take out a loan with them. Then you pay to get it back later.

Try Craigslist instead.
