Are there any low-end camcorders that take an external mic?

Q. I would be happy with a prosumer one for under $300 but the only real requirement is an external mic. It'll be used for both outdoor and indoor interviews.

A. pro-sumer would be more like a grand. the Kodak Zi10 playtouch has mic input.

Q. It seems that in recent times the external mic input is quite hard to find on the low end digital cameras. I just bought an HD sanyo for just a couple of hundred and I'm very happy with the picture, but I really need an external mic. Does anybody know of a similar product with this function? There are a million and one lovely little hd video cameras out there now...but I want to find the cheapest option with this function. Thank you for your help!

A. If I bend over, and spread my hairy ass cheeks. Then you stick your hands in my unwipped butt hole. You can find one. It will be covered in shit and the flash will just spray poo everywhere but youw ill have one. I'll be recording before hand so please upload the video to youtube and send me the link.

hd camcorder with mic input?

Q. any good hd camcorders with mic input around 300-400 bucks

A. I am not an expert. But I am currently in the market for an HD video recording solution (I say that cos i'm leaning towards DSLRs that do video - my budget is £600) and I don't think anything for that budget comes with a mic input. Additionally apparently even the (DSLR) ones that do, suffer from bad quality audio because you can't override the automatic boost (the AGC).

I have begun to consider simply buying an external audio recorder to do audio, as I think I can get more for my money on the visual side that way with cameras that don't have mic-in.

A. Nope....but your best bet is to use a separate recorder anyway. Consumer-grade camcorders don't record audio that well. Even if you could use an external mic, you would want a good quality one. I use a Zoom H4n recorder with a Sure mic and then mate the audio with my video in post. Much better.

Whats the best Professional camcorder to buy between 1000$ and 1800$?

Q. I am planing to shoot a movie, I am having a DSLR but i need something PRO now in the field of Video.
I am thinking of buying a camcorder which is HD, has SD card slot, Supports external Mic input and has a audio output too ( headphones out). Please help me out in this, it is really important. Any company would do if they fill my requirements.
What exactly I am looking in "professional camcorder" is
Manual Focus, Aperture, Iris and with other Manual settings
Audio Input and Output
Handheld
Saves video in SD cards
High Definition
if the camcorder is giving me all of these features i consider it worth buying.

A. My definition of a "professional camcorder":

Lens diameter = 70mm or larger;
Imaging chip is 3CCD (or 3CMOS) = 1/3" or larger;
Audio connections are XLR connectors;
Low compression video format and storage.

When you get these, all the other useful stuff: Manual focus ring, manual zoom ring, manual audio gain control on the outside of the camcorder (not buried in a menu), LANC port, neutral density filter/selection; access to manual iris/aperture, shutter, exposure, white balance on the outside of the camcorder (not buried in a menu), headphone jack, are "included".

There is no high definition video capturing "professional camcorder", new, that meets these requirements in your price range. The closest one is the prosumer Sony HDR-FX1000 when a XLR adapter (beachTek or juicedLink) is added... Or a Canon XHA1.

There are several that miss the lens diameter, do not have a LANC, have only a 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo audio input. They may even be part of a manufacturer's "pro" line... but they are prosumer only. Some have the XLR connectors, headphone jack and maybe even a LANC - but other external controls are missing.

If your definition of "professional camcorder" is different from the first paragraph, please let us know so we can make appropriate suggestions.

I need some sort of external microphone for my camcorder?

Q. I have an Insignia 10MP Full HD camcorder that i just got and after filming for a bit and editing, i realised that it has a terrible microphone. Also in the footage, you can hear the machinery inside. So obviously i need some sort of external microphone. unfortunently, it doesn't have an external mic input jack.
Any ideas as to what i could do or possibly products i could buy as a separate microphone? help!

Camcorder best for low light situations?

Q. Friend of mine is in a band and some of the places they would play are in bars so the lighting is kinda dim. Looking for a camcorder that would be best in this type of situation also will need an external mic input. Will be running sound from a mixer board into the camera for the best sound. What should I look for in the specs to determine of decent for low light?

A. You would want a miniDV tape based camera to do this My Canon ZR 930 shoots in very low lighting situation. Shot one wedding where they turned out the overhead lights. It was very low light, lower than I believe any bar I have been in. Client was pleased with the video.

What High Definition Camcorder should I get?

Q. I will be setting up a small studio with green screen and need to buy a high def camcorder. What I need is bang for my buck and good Video quality with a good lens. Big and bulky is not a problem.

A. One thing with making a good chroma-key is the necessity to have as little compression as possible. Stepping up from HDV into higher-quality HD formats such as Panasonic's P2 and Sony's XDCam might be something to consider. Once you get into that price range, mic inputs are just automatically part of the package.

Lighting, of course, is also incredibly important - have to get that green to be as consistent as possible.

Of course, the concern here is budget. Not sure what your range is.
