How do I upload videos from the camcorder?

Q. Hello, I have recently acquired a Samsung SCL810 camcorder but I don't exactly know how to upload videos to my computer. I have an S-video cable hooked into my computer and into my camcorder but It didn't come with a CD-rom or any interfaces. Im not really looking any "special effects" I just want to upload me playing guitar to youtube. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks! Oh and I am on a serious budget so please no $200 something crazy interfaces please!

A. The Samsung SCL810 is an analog, Hi8 tape, based camcorder. There is no "direct" connection from that camcorder to a computer. This is not a digital camcorder. Digtal tape based camcorders use miniDV and digital8 tape.

You did not tell us which computer, but chances are about 99.99% that the s-video connection is video out only. Not 2-way and not inbound to the computer (many laptops use this to connect to a projector).

To get video from that camcorder into the computer, an "analog/digital converter" or capture card is needed. Connect the camcorders AV cables (s-video is video only so remember to connect the audio cables if you choose to use the s-video connection - but don't connect the yellow composite video connection to anything) to the A/D converter or capture card. The low-end A/D converters connect to the computer with USB, the better ones connect with firewire; the capture cards use a PCI slot. See Roxio, Hauppauge, Pinnacle (Dazzle), Canopus, Black Magic.

What camera/camcorder should I buy for YouTube?
Q. I'm going to start a YouTube channel and I was wondering what kind of camera/camcorder I should get? That one of my questions should I get a camera or a camcorder and what's the difference? I would like 1080p and and super slow motion which is 120fps but 60 fops would do. I need to be a ble to attach a shotgun microphone to it, and definitely need to be able to attach a tripod to the camera! There are so many cameras/camcorders out there that it is just to hard to look through all of them. Please answer I'm trying to get it ASAP.

A. Lol, never buy a flipcam, it seems like you are just starting out so don't worry about slow motion and shotgun microphones because those are really expensive, start out with something decent and work your way up. Look at some cameras here and pick up one that you are comfortable with spending your money on: http://store.sony.com/c/Sony-Handycam-Camcorders/en/c/S_Video_Camcorders .

If you want something with a microphone input and no slowmotion then get this http://store.sony.com/p/Sony-16GB-Full-HD-Projector-Camcorder/en/p/HDRPJ380/B#features.

If you want a slow motion camera but no mic input, then get this http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-Stabilized-Wide-Angle-3-2-Inch/dp/B0075SUJ4W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1374878910&sr=8-1&keywords=slow+motion+camera

If you want both, get this http://www.amazon.com/Sony-HVR-HD1000U-Definition-Camcorder-Optical/dp/B0010T7J18/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1374879041&sr=8-6&keywords=slow+motion+camcorder

Don't worry all of them support tri-pods.

Will a movie filmed with a digital camcorder reproduce well when transferred to a theater screen?

Q. I'm ready to shoot my feature length horror movie now. I'm wanting to invest in a HD camcorder that will have that "film look" but that will also reproduce well when it's projected up on the big screen when i try and get it into some of the film festivals. Any suggestions which type of camcorder can help me get that end result that i'm looking for? Thanks in advance.

A. That depends. A good camcorder that shoots full HD (1920x1080) will do a reasonable job on the big screen. That's Blu-Ray quality. Film provides higher resolution, and some digital projectors will also provide about twice the resolution, called 4K (as opposed to 2K, which is full HD).

But you don't win or lose at a festival based on image quality alone. If your content is good, people won't worry too much about the video quality, as long as it's reasonable. So a good HD camera (even a consumer model) could be fine, as long as the rest of the movie is good.

What is the best camcorder for my money?
Q. I'm looking into purchasing a camcorder mainly for the purpose of making videos for YouTube and school projects.
I'd like to keep the price under $500
I also need something that has a built-in microphone and is compatible with Mac computers.

A. you can try this Camcorder ! Sony
HDR-CX260V High Definition Handycam Camcorder

Its Got Full 60p HD recording , not just 60i quality. It has good lowlight, it just does not have nightshot and there is no light on the Camcorder. This is Probably the best Sony camcorder for under 500 $ You could try other brands too, Like Panasonic, or Canon, but Im Positive that All sony handycam camcorders are compatible with Mac's! I recently got the Sony HDR cx 580v camcorder!! its F*cking Awesome!! It has A HD 5.1 mic,2 Built in Camcorder lights, A projector, Full HD 24p/60p recording. I would recommend it ! :)

what camcorder will accept audio in from sound mixer?

Q. I'm looking for a camcorder that accepts audio in from sound mixer (via auxillary send from mixer) while recording live. Also, I would like to send the video while recording live from camcorder to projector (via HDMI). Also, I'd like to send audio/video to dvd recorder. Can all of this been done while recording live on camcorder and at the same time? If so, what camcorder can do this?

A. My Canon ZR camcorders (500, 800 and 930) have, when hooked to computer or when I did Paid events, such as weddings, the feed from the Main Mix Out on my Alto Audio Mixer - http://asimplelife.ca/specs.html fed into the MIC jack on the camcorder. These are not HDMI camcorders, so to hook to a Projector, I would use the AV jack, and Y cable, one to the Projector and one to the DVD recorder. Easy to do.

How do you report an internet scam? The send package to Nigeria?
Q. Have met someone online who said he was businessman leaving in couple of day to go to Africa. He asked if I would send some packages to him while there. After he supposedly arrived, it's business partner needs to send money to my account and then he ask me to buy something for his daughter from African museum. Now I have camcorder, projector and box of shirts in my floor and he won't verify these peoples names? How do I report and get rid of this?

What movie camera should I buy for school plays and does the Epson Movie Mate Projector come with sound?
Q. I wish to take videos of the school play practice and play it for the kids to improve their acting skills. What is a good video camera for this use and what projector should I use with it?

A. It depends on what your budget is... if your looking for something that is a good buy, reliable, and affordable i would recommend Canon Vixia HV30. The camcorder is an HD MiniDV camcorder that has high rated definition (so u can see the kids acting expressions :) ), 10X optical zoom plus one of the best image stabilizers. Another bonus is that it only weighs 1.3 pounds, is an average size, and the battery lasts for over an hour ( if the play lasts around an hour this would be a good buy so that you wont have to charge it too often). The playback controls are very easy to control, so if you want to correct the kids on their skills, you can playback the video and advise them on the spot.

The camcorder ranges around $825. And like i mentioned...it depends on your budget. if you want something cheaper theres the Sony HDR-CX100 which is just about as good and it goes for $525.

I REALLY/HIGHLY recommend consumerreports.com, great website for the best consumer products, next time you decide to purchase anything look there... except i think u have to subscribe. (sorry)

Anyway, consumer reports gave the CANON Vixia HV30 the max... 5 stars.

Hope I helped :)
