9/11 video?

Q. There was a video I remember seeing, right after 9/11/01. It was taken by a fireman in training. I don't remember what this video was called though. It was rather long, and completely unedited. There was also a part i remember where the people in the building used this camera as a flashlight. Does this video ring any bells? all answers would be appreciated :-)

A. The link is below.
It was an amazing documentary of Sept 11th by two french journalist brothers. It is usually shown on CBS on the eve of Sept 11th - I haven't checked the listings yet but I hope it will be show tomorrow evening.
The video can also be purchased on Amazon.com.

What kind of cameras do journalists use?
Q. You know when you see journalists and their cameramen. The cameras they use. What type of cameras would that be.

A. Journalists do not use cameras, news photographers use still cameras and TV news cameramen use Video cameras.

As an Australian I am converting the costs here in Australia into the equivalent US Dollars. Costs may actually be lower in the US.
--------
If you are talking about News Photographers, they may use a Nikon or Canon digital still cameras (the two most common used in the industry) usually costing around $US 2,000 for the body only then there are the various lenses which vary in cost from around $US600 to $US2,500 each. A news photographer would have at least four lenses with him. Then he would have a tripod and flash gear.

If you are talking about the TV news cameramen, then they may use a number of different brands. Sony is the most common but there are also "Ikagami"and "Panasonic" and some lesser brands. Most used now are wide-screen digital CCD Betacams and can cost about $US 100,000 per camera and recorder (for the top of the range cameras) while some use cheaper models (around $60,000). Then there are the portable lights, plug-in lights, tripod, batteries and battery chargers, microphones, leads etc. To fit out a "TV News Car" costs over $US 250,000.

What is citizen journalism? how u can be a citizen journalist?

Q. i heard citizen journalism is a new concept in journalism area, but i need detail idea about that. What all are the portal is working in this area. How i or one can be a citizen journalist?

A. When ordinary citizens from small villages in central India to bloodied demonstrators in the streets of Tehran to 70,000 registered citizen journalists on one Asian website to the historical society in Silverton, Colo. find, research and report the news - that is citizen journalism. It is happening spontaneously and with very little planning, training, testing or projecting what will happen next or where it will go. Ordinary citizens all around the world who have a computer, i-phone, web-cam, video camera, blog, website, or maybe just a photocopy machine are writing, producing and reporting news however they can. It is a revolution in journalism. If YOU want to be a citizen journalist - you can. Just pick up your pen or video camera or computer and start reporting. Need some training? Take a look at the ONLY book written for citizen journalists, "Handbook for Citizen Journalists." You can Google it.

Will Isreal release the security/journalist video that they took and still have?
Q. The Israelis shot a camera man as he was taking pictures and after commandeering the boat into Israel took all the security and video tapes. Will they now release it unedited and complete, release it after deleting sections that they don't like or even adding new video, or not release it at all?

A. No. and if they have to there is always photoshop. The first thing they did in there last little pillage and looting campaign into Gaza was to ban the international press and try to kill all Al Jazeera journalists. The second thing they did was to proceed to bomb UN schools and hospitals to eliminate them as observers. Then after the fact they denounced the Goldstone report which pointed out all the
no-no they did as well as the no-nos Hamas did. But they are the "good guys" right? All people are equal but some are more equal than others.

What should I get my boyfriend for Christmas?

Q. We have been together for almost 2 years, he's 23 and we both have 3 year old little boys. He is a sports journalist and a football fanatic! Last year I got him a watch and a video camera. I really want to get him something awesome this year, he deserves it. Any ideas???

A. A nice leather bag to put all his stuff when he goes out?

what is the best digital video camcorder to use for professional website videos?
Q. I am a journalist, and need to videotape interviews of executives in their offices for website clips in Youtube format. I need one that will have good sound and lighting.

A. Lighting will not come from the camera if you need lighting then you will need extra lighting. as for the audio most interviews are conducted using an external mic, the reason for this is that camcorder mics are omnidirectional, they pick up sound from every where. you need something that will only capture the interviewees (does not look right) voices.

For that sort of work you probably get away with using a flash drive camera, but for assured quality taope based is better. you do not give a budget, so its impossible to give you models, as I dont know your budget, but if the video is being put on youtube then the quality does not have to be that good , once they have compressed the video any quality will be reduced.
