Aiptek A-HD 720P Camcorder Black Screen?

Q. My camcorder's screen has turned black and I have found no way to reverse it. The camera was open it a video was playing I looked away and the screen had turned black. When plugged into my computer it would not recognize my camera. When normally working it the light on the back would start out red, when the camera is closed, when opened the light turns green then when closed it turns blue and syncs with the computer. It is stuck on green, I also took the SD card out and plugged it into the computer, it worked. But after removing and placing back in it would not recognize the card. I have tried this on my laptop and desktop, think you can help?
Also I need to retrieve my files from the SD card.

A. The best thing for you to do is check your warranty card. You will probably get a free repair, or better yet, a free new camcorder.

720p decent camcorder around $169?
Q. I'm trying to find a decent camcorder that shoots no less than 720p and has decent audio for around $169. I looked at the Toshiba Camileo H30 but I heard it has REALLY bad sound quality.

Are there any? Regular camcorders, pocket camcorders, anything? It's going to be a Christmas gift.

A. I've used a Sanyo VPC GH3 and it has good sound quality, not the best however.

anyone us the aiptek 720p camcorder?
Q. It is HD and very cheap, I am looking for something to get good home video of my dog. I know one reason its cheap is no picture stabilization. I just want to know how the picture quality is.

I want it clear...obviously. That is all I care about, clear picture, I don't need any features.

Thanks

A. I have the camcorder, and I can say it's very good for it's price. It does have nice video. I can say a lot about it, but a video is worth a thousand words, so here's a sample:

http://www.vimeo.com/477798

The video is very good in daylight. It is good in indoor light. It is starts to show graininess in very low light, but it isn't a huge issue because it's so fine.

The only problem with the camera is the audio - it is mono, and not the best sounding. The mic is too sensitive, so it picks up a lot of noise. Not horrible, but not superb. If you're the DIY type, however, it's really easy to solder on a microphone line in port. Just google it.

Good luck. (and search aiptek a-hd on vimeo for more samples - their the closest to actual quality).

Using a HD 720p camcorder, What size SD card should I buy?

Q. Using a HD 720p camcorder, What size SD card should I buy?

I am thinking of buying a Sanyo Xacti VPC-TH1 High Definition camcorder and I dont know what size SD card to buy...

I want to record about 2 hours in 720p so which size should I get?
Is there any rough kind of guide to follow?

A. the camera specs appear to indicated that it is designed for 16 GB memory cards. the battery is good for 200 minutes, and 16 GB is 230 minutes of HD video. However if you plan on using the still photo capability of the camera, that will reduce the minutes of available video. An 8 GB card will be just short of 2 hours of HD video.

When are the 1080p camcorders going to come out?
Q. Sony and Canon have 1080i/720p camcorders on the market, but I have yet to find any 1080p format camcorders.

A. the guy above is wrong. his camera is 1080i like all other hdv cameras. not sure when 1080p is coming.
