Where can I find information on good digital camcorders?

Q. I am planning on buying a digital camcorder (video recording) in the next few months. I want something that is decent quality, but not so expensive that I would break the bank, or be sad if it got broken or lost. Me and some friends will be taking road trips, and I want to document them. No idea where to start looking for cameras though. So if anyone knows of one, or places that I can look at descriptions and stuff that would be great. (Best buy and those places aren't really as descriptive as I would like).
Something that would be good for indoors and outdoors. Underwater capability would be a huge plus. Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

What HD camcorder is best for Youtube sketch videos?

Q. Hi! I'm looking for an HD camcorder that would be good for recording sketches. Preferably it should have a common video format that's easy to upload onto the computer/Youtube/Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum.

I don't know much about camcorders, and I'm not doing anything too fancy, so I don't need crazy features. As long as it has good video quality, memory, and battery life, it's fine with me.

My budget is around 500 dollars. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!
