How to connect Panasonic 3CCD camcorder to Apple power book to download the recorded movies?

Q. I've connected the camcorder to the Mac using the USB port, but I am unable to access the camera. I tried using iMovie to no success. When I was using a PC I was able to access the camera and transfer the movies. I was hoping to be able to do the same with the Apple. The main reason I purchased the Mac was for the ease of editing and creating DVDs.

Any help would be much appreciated.

A. you must install a mac driver for your camera if you opt to use the usb port. if you cannot find a driver, you will need to use the firewire port.

How is the quality of your videos transferred from a camcorder to your Mac/PC?
Q. Yesterday I have started transferring my videos from my digital camcorder to my Mac using Pinnacle Video Capture. The quality is not that good (not as good as when I watch them on my TV) and the sound doesn't follow the image. Is it normal? Could I have a problem with my cables?

A. What's happening ? You're speeking English today ????
Sorry, I can not answer your question but I give you a big big kiss...
See you later (in French this time please.... lol)

How do I connect my camcorder to my computer?
Q. I have a Panasonic PV-GS320 camcorder and a Mac computer. When I connect the camcorder to the computer with the cord, nothing happens. I tried turning it on, but it's dead without the battery and the plug is behind the battery, so the battery has to come out in order for me to plug the cord into the camera. And no, I can't just read the instructions because my idiot brother decided to use it as a fire starter -_-

Can you configure a Mac to have a disc tray cus this is really ticking me off?
Q. I want to get a Macbook Pro but the thing is that it has only a disc slot and it can't run minidvds. You know how many people are into those minidvd camcorders right? Even if i could connect my camcorder to a mac using firewire there are still some minidiscs out there with software I just got to have! So what should I do? And I'm also planning to buy Windows to go run on bootcamp on my Mac.

A. get an external dvd drive (like- usb external dvd drive).

Both mac os x and bootcamp windows will be able to access it and you can read mini dvd disk.

How can I connect my Sony camcorder to my mac computer?

Q. When I connect my Sony Dcr-Trv11 camcorder to my mac via firewire, the mac does not recognize it. I have an imac osx tiger and imovie. I have found places online that say that this is possible, but I have had no luck yet. does anyone have any suggestions? thanks

A. The Sony DCR-TRV11 camcorder is miniDV tape based.

What are you expecing the Mac to do? Nothing will automatically "pop up".

Connecting a 4-pin to 6-pin firewire cable to the camcorder's DV port and the Mac's firewire port - with the camcorder in "Play" or "VCR" mode, launch iMovie,
Name the project,
select the video project destination folder,
select DV (presuming you captured the video in 4:3 standard definition mode - select DV widescreen if the video was captured in that mode.
Create.
The iMovie Import screen should appear.

You did not tell us which Mac. It is possible that the Firewire port is inactive. System Preferences: Network: Port Status. Be sure there is a check mark in the firewire box.

It is also possble that the firewire cable or the camcordeer's firewire port is bad.

How do I download a movie from a camcorder to my mac?

Q. When I connect the USB port from my camcorder to my mac, it does not import onto I-Movie. I don't know what to do. I have a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD710 and my MacBook is version 10.4.11. Is there something that I need to convert or can my camcorder not download to macs? Please help! Thanks!

A. First make sure you have the right drivers on your mac for your specific camcorder (chances are you do), then plug it in and open finder... your camcorder will be under "devices" open it... find the file you want then drag and drop it into the program you want to use like I-movie. (you might have to save it into another document first... I'm not sure with your specific camcorder... but thats what i do with my camcorder)

How to import videos from camcorder to mac?
Q. I'm trying to import the videos from the memory card in the camcorder to my mac. When I plug it into my laptop it automatically opens iPhoto and when I try to import the video I keep getting an error saying that it is an unrecognized format. I thought I could then change the "Media Format" on the camcorder then it asks "Int. Memory" or "Memory Card" then when I click "Memory Card" it then says "Format? All data will be deleted. Est. Process Time: 9s" I'm worried if I click "Yes" all the data on the camcorder will be deleted because it's my friends I don't want to delete her stuff. So I'm wondering what it will delete and if it will work to import on to my laptop? Also if any one knows any other way to import it to a mac that would be great.

A. And you did not say anything about the camera or camcorder. You did not say anything about your Mac.

The work "photo" in "iPhoto" should be a hint - it is not designed to deal with video, but it can do *some* things.

DO NOT format the card. You will not be able to recover the video or still image files. ALL files on the card will be deleted if you format the card. If you want the files in the camera or on the memory card, DO NOT format anything.

If we knew which camera and which Mac, we'd have a better chance at helping you. Right now, we do not have enough information to provide any detailed assistance.
