What is a good brand for a Camcorder?

Q. I am looking for professional kind of camcorder that is for consumers. I never bought a camcorder before, so I have to know what brand is good for a camcorder

I will be buying a camcorder that has
- 1080p 60fps recording
- 55mm focal length

A. My husband bought me a Sony for my birthday. It is easy to use. I do not know about any of the specifics you want to know about. But I like what I have.

How do i know what recording settings i want when using my Gopro HERO3 Black?
Q. In what situations is it best to use which settings? For example, when is it better to record in 1080p with 60fps, as oppose to using 1440p at 48fps? When is each setting better?
Please explain what situations are best for each setting. Helpful answers will be appreciated and acknowledged with a best answer.

A. Standard frames per second ("frame rate" or FPS) = 30 fps for NTSC; 25 fps PAL; 24 fps film-based movies.

Faster frame rate allows better slow motion playback - assuming the shutter is a decent speed and the lighting is good.

In the two examples you cite, 60 fps is a function of 30 fps or NTSC standard frame rate. If 60i, this is the same as 30p. For 48 fps, then a function of 24 fps "cinema" mode.

The higher frame rates will be better for slow motion stuff.

Please keep in mind the GoPro family are "action cameras" and not "general purpose" camcorders. They *can* capture "regular" video - but are designed for fast action video capture.

The settings you choose depend on what the plan is for the video when editing.
