camcorder lens?

Q. how can i tell what size fisheye lens for my camcoder

A. You need to know the size of your camcorder lens in millimeters (check the edge of your lens and your manual). You also need to check to see if your camcorder lens is threaded. * If you do not see threads, be sure to check if there might already be a protective glass shield screwed on. JVC used to sold several of their SD camcorders with an extra glass shield on the lens for protection.

Once you know the size of your lens and if it has threads or not, you can search places such as Amazon http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=motionpicturecentral-20&o=1&p=13&l=ur1&category=electronics&banner=1DVHRBEGZDSCG142K282&f=ifr , B&H Photo and Video http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/shop/1871/Camcorders.html?BI=2075&KW=&KBID=2785&img=bh-videomakergen-728x90.gif , or other similar sites for a lens (threaded or unthreaded) that fit your mm size. You local electronics store might carry lenses in your size or order them for you.

The threaded lenses should screw right on, and the unthreaded lenses will slide on with a fair amount of force and some twisting action. Most camcorders can use the same photo lenses for film and digital cameras with little or no problems

Camcorder lens for outdoor sports.?
Q. I was wondering what a good camcorder lens would be for baseball. I dont want a fisheye lens but something that could maybe see the ball better if that even exists.

A. It depends on the camcorder and what you mean by "see the ball better"... we also don't know where the camera is relative to the action being recorded.

If the camcorder being use captures high compression video and no optical zoom is being used, there will be issues.

If the camcorder has a specification for "Lens filter diameter" or filter diameter", then a "tele lens" can be mounted. They are generally in a 2x configuration. That is, they can basically double the camcorder's zoom potential.

If you are expecting the video quality of a consumer grade camcorder to rival that of the professional grade camcorders used at a pro or college baseball game, - well, that is just not going to happen unless you use the same kinds of cameras used at those events.

Tip: Use a good, stable, tripod - do not use the camcorder hand-held.
