Why are my HD videos Laggy/choppy once i upload them into my video editing software?

Q. I recently bought a HD camcorder (Vixia HF20) so i could film snowboarding and longboarding in crisp clear HD. when i load them to my computer and put them in my HD editing software (Magix pro edit 17) they appear to be laggy and dont run smoothly. i already tried lowering the resolution on the videos but nothing had changed. NOTE the videos run smoothly BEFORE i put them in my editing software. why is this?

A. Hey Hippo,

this could be because your video editor isn't optimised to edit and play large HD files.

You can check out trakAxPC Pro. It's a new editing suite that allows you to edit and mix any combination of audio, video (HD) and photos. You can record from your webcam, do effects, text, split screen, reverse, slow-motion etc, plus upload your video directly to YouTube through the application. There is a free forever lite version and paid pro version available.

You can check it out here: http://www.trakax.com/software/pc/

Hope this helps

What type of computer should I get for editing Cannon Hg20 Vixia Full HD?
Q. Here is my camera http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/camcorders/consumer_camcorders/vixia_hg20#Overview

My computer right now (HP pavilion Slimline) cannot handle the HD.

The footage comes out skippy in sony vegas.

I was wondering the computer best for me, like a mac ect..?

A. If you buy Mac, we've heard stories here, about problems with cameras talking with a Mac. I believe it's because 95% of the planet runs on windows these cameras don't relate well to Apple.

Okay, that said, you can buy a card reader for little $$. As I understand it, readers do talk with Mac.

Either way you're going to need software.
