Q. I am for a vacation to thailand,malaysia and singapore. I want to buy a a DSLR camers and a camcorder. I need advice that should i buy them in india or from the above mentioned countries. International warranty must be there.

A. I do not know about shopping in Thailand but comparing Singapore and Malaysia, the prices will be lower in Malaysia. This is because Singapore charges a 7% GST on all items. Of course, as a tourist, you can get refund when you exit. If you do not mind filling up the forms for the GST refunds, then Singapore and Malaysia's prices will be comparable.
Having said that, you have to do your homework on what the price of the camera is.Buy only from reputable stores. You may not get the best price but it will save you from been taken for a ride. As international warranty is important to you, state this upfront.

Does canon camcorder comes with default 1 year international warranty?
Q. Hi, I am going to purchase a Canon HV40 from B&H USA. I am getting it shipped in India. Though the product comes with 1 year default manufacturer warranty, Does it also cover International coverage? That means Canon India will repair it under warranty even though i bought it from canon USA?
A. I know SONY does but not sure about Canon, your only problem is that you are getting a camera that is NTSC, and not PAL. all the parts that are carried in India will be PAL. So if there is a problem you may either have to send it to the USA for repair or the company that is going to repair it will have to order the parts, and this could take some time.
The actual video will not be a problem as your computer will not care what format its in, and you can change it when you come to render it.
It probably wont hurt to contact Canon and talk to them direct.
