I have a faulty dvd from a camcorder video, what can I do?

Q. My camcorder dvd is faulty, but there are some clips in the dvd that are ok. Some are not as there is an error on the disc. The footage is very important. How can I save the clips that work. I have tried taking the whole file from the disc onto computer but this does not solve the problem. If only i could delete parts that dont work. Anyone had this problem?

A. send it back, or send it to the manufacturer and have them fix it.

What software could i download for free to make videos?
Q. I have raw video that needs to be edited into a movie trailer for a school project. It's on a mini-dvd from the camcorder (dvd plus?) so windows movie maker doesnt read the files.

WHat program can i use [download for free] to edit, add text [like titles and narratives and stuff] and add music to the video?

and it also should be easy to use. this is my first time editing vids. thanks!

A. depends .. if the dvd has been finalized i would rip it to pc with dvd decrypter then convert to avi with autogk .. then moviemaker will open it ..
