How can i get my samsung camcorder to work on my mac book?

Q. I bought a samsung camcorder and a mac book to star making a editing home vidios. when trying to connect them using a firewire cable to star editing i found out that SAMSUNG camcorders are not compatable with mac books (imovies)
Is their any way i can make them compatable???

A. It's true that Apple doesn't list any Samsung camcorders as compatible with iMovie. Befrore you consider tossing your Samsung and buying another brand, let's consider what iMovie needs. The only way to import data from a camcorder to iMovie is by Firewire (IEEE 1394) connection. Does your Samsung have Firewire connector? If not, you can copy the movie data to your MacBook hard drive and then open the movie file in iMovie. Here is what Apple says about that:

"To use your video camera to import directly into an iMovie HD project, you must connect it using the FireWire ports on your video camera and your computer. Some cameras label the FireWire port "iLink" and some hide the port under a cover or door. Some cameras have both FireWire ports and USB ports (for downloading still images to iPhoto, for example).
Plug the 4-pin connector into your video camera and the 6-pin connector into your computer. If you're still not sure if your video camera has a FireWire port, check its manual.

Keep in mind that you need to switch your video camera to VCR, VTR, or camera mode and turn the power on when you import to iMovie HD. It's a good idea to plug in your camera's AC adapter to prevent the battery from running down while you're importing.

If you camera uses an MPEG-4 solid-state card or has a USB port and not a FireWire Port, you can transfer your video files to your computer via the USB port. When you connect your MPEG-4 device to your computer using a USB cable, your camera or device appears as a hard disk on your desktop. You can then open the device's icon and drag the MPEG-4 files into your iMovie HD projects."

thanks for any answers
i was looking at a JVC Everio GZHD3 is that fine? if not im going to go with a jvc everio hm200
i also saw the everio hm300 and the toshiba h30.
can i attach a lens

A. Get your cheque book out and hope they take post dated cheques. It would cost you in excess of $3500 to get a HD camcorder that could begin to come close to the video Quality of a $300 MiniDV tape camcorder. If you going to be shooting movement, as skateboarding is, avoid consumer level HD camcorders like the plague. C.L. HD camcorders, when shooting video, even a simple lifting of ones arm create ghost images and screen artifacts in the video itself. Terrible for sports.

You can get a Canon ZR 930 fro $300. It uses MiniDV tape for video storage and has a Mic jack. With that port, you have no excuse for poor audio in a video.

As for fisheye lense, they sell all kinds of lenses and adapters on Ebay, just do a search for what ever lense you want by entering your camera model and the type of lense your looking for. And I think a wide angle lense would be better.
