Which Handycam is best ?

Q. I just confused between Canon VIXIA HF R21 and Sony HDR CX200 . Please tell me which one is the best camcorder ? Please don't look into the price and cost. Just forget about the cost and tell me which is the best in picture quality, life, zoom etc.

A. Since "Handycam" is Sony's generic brandname for ALL their consumer grande camcorders, then the HDR-CX200 would be the appropriate choice. However, As I understand it, the Canon HF-R21 has an external mic jack (the CX200 does not)... so I would go with the Canon if this is all we get to choose from.

As for "picture quality", that will depend on you - the person controlling the lighting and movement. "Life"? of a camcorder? In this case, they will be similar. Zoom is an irrelevant measurement. They both record to high-compression AVCHD files. They both are entry-level, consumer-grade camcorders. I hope you have a video editor (and powerful enough computer with lts of available hard drive space - better yet, external drive for video editing project files) to deal with them. No software in the box that the camcorders comes in is useful...

Sony 800x digital zoom handycam?
Q. I am trying to transfer a recorded video to a dvd. I cannot find the manual, so could someone explain how to do this for me?

A. You first have to capture the video. This can either be done with a usb or firewire 400 cable. Firewire is better though. Plug the camera in and turn it to the video playback mode, the screen with controls like ff rewind and so on. Connect the firewire or usb cable to your pc and turn on the camera. Now you need editing software like movie maker, imovie adobe premiere or final cut pro. Select capture video to hard drive in your program. A screen with controls will come up. Press the play buttton and then the capture or record button. You then have to wait for the tape to play right through in real time whilst the video is captured. After it is finished press stop. The video should appear as a file or a bunch of precut clips. Drag them onto the timeline and you are ready to start editing.
