A. well, those are very elite jobs, so you need to be a rather elite filmmaker and scientist to really make it. You would get a good start by pursuing a dual degree in filmography and geography or some other specialized field (natural science, anthropology, etc.). The more elite the school, the better- I imagine most of their people are ivy league.
Then in your junior or senior year of college, you would want to get an internship with them, like this one:

You will need some investment money or some very financially-supportive parents, because you'd probably have to relocate and you wouldn't get paid much, if anything. But that's your big foot in the door, and from there it's a matter of becoming a valuable member of the team and showing them what you're worth!
It's a VERY competitive field to get into, but if this is somethiong you've worked towards your whole life, then it's definitely in the realm of possibility. But just remember, anything like that is all or nothing- if you're not 100% invested into it, then those people who are will beat you to it. A lot of these people were making little camcorder films and writing their first doccumentry screenplays in spiral notebooks when they were in middle school, so you need to ask yourself if you can become that enthralled and committed to doccumentary filmmaking, and if you have the tremendous creative and intellectual talent needed to be one of the best. NG and DSC can afford to only hire the best, so that's what you need to strive for.
