How do I add videos to my computer from my camcorder?
Q. How can I add videos from my Sony Camcorder to my computer?It uses a tape/cassette and it has 3 ports that are yellow, white, and red. Also an S-Video cable port. Please help me!!! It is a digital handycam. A digital 8 DCR-TRV310 NTSC.
A. Well, since cassettes are generally outdated, pretty much the only way to transfer your footage onto your computer is to use a capture card. That's what I use to transfer tape data onto my computer. And on the plus side, you can also use it to transfer virtually any type of video data, including DVDs.

Once you have a capture card, use the following setup:
1. Connect your capture card to your computer, via its USB cable.
2. Connect the device that contains your video to the capture card.
3. Use the capture card's included software to record the video. If it doesn't come with software for this, download Golden Video (free). Copy & paste:

Also, keep in mind that some tape-using camcorders can connect to computers/transfer their videos via Firewire, USB, etc. so check your camera for that first.
