I have a dvd that doesn't work properly, should I get it fixed?

Q. I have a camcorder dvd and was faulty before I finialized it. I can send it to someone who says can fix it and do editing and put the readable scenes on a new dvd. This will cost some money of course. Should I do this or should / can I do this myself. I have tried to do it but it will not read the whole faulty disc. Any suggestions or should i just get it done by someone who knows how?

A. Try this first http://www.handbrake.fr/ this is a video converter. You might try this, it works for pictures, not sure about dvd videos, http://www.recuva.com and try a deep scan. These programs are free.

And just to make sure that you know how to download a minidvd,
If you have a mini dvd camcorder.
You will have to finalize your dvd in the camera and then put the dvd in your computer's DVD burner (top loading only) and then you will have to convert the files (I downloaded http://www.handbrake.fr/ file converter free) and import them into your editing program. Use the HELP feature in your editing program to learn about editing. Usually you would import your videos and drop them in to the timeline, add transitions, menus, music, etc. Once you are ready to burn, your project will be burned to a different DVD and you can file the original away.

How do you lose the camcorder Icons when burning to DVD?
Q. I have a JVC GZ-MG37U camcorder. The DVD burner is a Sony. When I burn to DVD the Camcorder Icons are on the DVD. I would like to only see what I am trying to record. Thanks for any assistance.

A. That shouldn't be happening, try calling the camera peoples tech support.
