What else do I need to buy besides the camera? I'm taking some classes on the production of film so I'm sure I'll learn how to work all of the elements of filmmaking there, but in the mean time, what should I buy? (somebody mentioned mics, lenses, etc.)

A. Same suspects... depends on your requirements...
Canon XHA1, Sony HVR-Z1U, HVR-Z5U, HVR-Z7U, Panasonic AG-HVX200, JVC GY series.
Mics? Lenses? Editing platform? Tripod or other steadying devices (camera crane), external monitor? It is easy to spend more on accessories than the camcorder.
bhphotovideo and Adorama are good online sources.

Q. I need a professional video camera for under $300. It's ok if it's used, I just need one that's cheap, yet almost t.v show quality. Any brands, names, links to sellers?

A. Gopro isn't really professional...it's TECHNICALLY HD...but the framerate is 30 and the BIOS blurs it a bunch.
Look for a camcorder that has 1080p resolution, 60 frames per second and good color.
A good nightshot would help out aswell. You will NOT get TV show quality for ~300. For that you will either need a real, studio cam(4000+ used) or a DSLR camera rated for video(500-1000)
